Why I use Sigma Macro Lens

In my profession as a photographer, I rely on the materials I have, the camera and the lens. Currently I am using Nikon D80 and the lens I have is Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX DC Macro HSM which I am really fond of.

I want to discuss about this lens in particular and why I liked this so much. Sigma 18-50 mm has a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, complete with minimum distance of 20cm (7.9″) and a maximum magnification of 1:3, making it ideal for close-up photography. It is specifically designed to suit the characteristics of a digital SLR camera which provides a high level of optical performance.

And because it is F2.8 this lens can take fast photography meaning it can be used for sports and any fast moving objects, also this eliminates blur from photos. The design is incorporate with both glass-mold and hybrid aspherical lens technology by which offers superior peripheral brightness, extreme high image quality as well as a compact and lightweight construction. Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD) glass elements provided with excellent correction of color aberrations.

Another feature it provides is the super multi-layer coating that reduces flare and ghosting which is a common problem with digital cameras. A high quality image is assured throughout the entire zoom range. Also an inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation making the lens particularly suitable for using the petal-type lens hood (supplied) plus circular polarizing filters.

The sigma macro lens is as useful as you can get, it can help you in your professional aspiration as a photographer. There might be a comparison with other camera lenses but I can proudly agree upon that the sigma macro lens is one of the best camera lenses I have ever used.

Why are telephoto lenses with a small f number physically long?

I find that lenses, an example being the Nikon AF-S Zoom NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8, is very long compared to something like the AF 70-300mm f4-5.6. Why is this? Does it make a big difference. If it helps, I use a Nikon D60.

The smaller the f number the larger the maximum lens aperture opening.

This lets in more light for better low ligth photography. This helps for fast shutter speeds in overcast conditions- mainly for sports photographers.

To achieve the wider apartures the lens needs more glass, hence the lenses are bigger.

D40 and AF lenses?

Nikon D40 does not autofocus nikkor lenses? If I'm reading the specifications on the right, the D40 body is not compatible FA. So why the camera companies AF package? VR lenses with them? Does VR function on a D40? I want to be able to shoot in situations low light. I thought I had done my research, but I'm more confused than when I knew nothing! Please HELP! My plan is to take a photography class this month January <I know that I know nothing about photography and really want to creat quality pictures, hence my many questions before buying camera that will be class!

The D40 focuses automatically with all Nikkor AF-S .. which are the new lenses made by Nikon and are the fastest AF-lenses at this time. As time passes, eventually all the Nikkor lenses are auto-focus will be AF-S I'm sure it was 30 AF-S made by Nikon, you can find one or two that you like. All virtual reality goggles work in just about any Nikon camera. They work in my old 1988 Nikon F4 Nikon Did you call with your concerns? It appears that you have been talking with someone who has another brand of camera and is just hitting the D40. http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Camera-Lenses/index.page D40 actually has a feature that NO DSLR others can boast. You can flash synchronization at shutter speeds up to 1/4000th seconds, faster that even some flash drives flash durations. I have colleagues who shoot professional sports and fashion who have one of these little gems there camera kit just that reason. If you had a semester or two of photography and a couple of years of experience, none of this would be confusing
